How to trade: buy and sell items

In Gothic, you can sell and buy items from Merchants.

Some merchants are:

• Fisk at the Old Camp
• Baal Cadar at the Swamp Camp
• Wolf at the New Camp

There are more of them, even on the roads between the camps, like Cavalorn.

To buy new items or sell yours, you need to interact with Merchants.

1. Press CTRL + Up Arrow to talk with the merchant
2. In the dialogue options, choose the one for trading (like "Trade")
3. A panel will open, with a column on the left for the merchant's items, and one on the right with your items. The middle columns are for the exchange of the goods.
4. Use Right Arrow and Left Arrow keys to change columns (the categories of items, like Weapons, Armors, Potions, etc.) and to move from the right column to the left one and viceversa.
5. Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to scroll all the items in the column
6. To buy or sell the selected item, make sure it is highlighted and then press CTRL + Left Arrow to move it in the "selling" column, or CTRL + Right Arrow to move it from the merchant's inventory to the "buying" column
7. The numbers below the middle columns are the total value of the exchange, the "sell" price must equal or overcome the "buy" one. If you buy a sword valued 100, you need to sell something for the same value, like 100 ore pieces or two swords each of 50 value
8. After balancing the exchange, press Enter to end the transaction
9. Remember, when selling an item, its value is 50% (half) of the original "Value" you see. So if a Weapon has a value of 120, you can sell it for 60.
10. You can move a hundred units of a stackable item at a time, like arrows or ore pieces, by holding the SHIFT key. So you will press CTRL + SHIFT + Left Arrow keys. This way you can move 100 units of that item from your inventory, or the maximum quantity if the total is below 100. The same can be done with the merchant's inventory.

Gothic 2

In Gothic 2 it is easier.

Some merchants are:

• Matteo in Khorinis
• Bennet at Onar's Farm
  
• Orlan at the Dead Harpy Tavern
  

To buy new items or sell yours, you need to interact with Merchants.

1. Press CTRL to talk with the merchant
2. In the dialogue options, choose the one for trading (like "Trade")
3. A panel will open, with all the items from your inventory and the merchant's
4. Move inside the inventories with the Arrow keys
5. Press CTRL on an item from your inventory to sell it
6. Press CTRL on an item from the merchant's inventory to buy it, if you have enough gold
7. Holding the CTRL key on a stackable item, like arrows or bolts, will allow you to sell multiple units of that item faster
8. Remember: in Gothic 2 the real sale value rate is 1:3 than the original "Value", while in Gothic 2: The Night of the Raven it is 1:6
